Financial Aid

Sleepy Hollow Preschool has established a Financial Aid Fund for tuition and Summer Fun programs to assist our families as we strive to create a community that is inclusive, equitable, and diverse.

Eligibility: Eligibility for financial aid is based on financial need. To determine financial need, the Financial Aid Committee will predominantly consider household income level, following the same guidelines used by Fairfax County Public Schools (the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines) to determine eligibility for free and reduced price lunches. These guidelines can be found on the USDA website, and are determined annually. The Financial Aid Committee will also consider other documented factors that could prevent a child from enrolling or continuing at SHPS such as unemployment, underemployment, and medical or educational expenses. Financial Aid will be awarded based on need and without regard to race, ethnicity, sex, gender, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation or disability.

To Apply: Prospective and current families may apply for Financial Aid at any point during the year via confidential application. Applicants should print and complete the below application form and submit the form and supporting documentation to the SHPS Vice President of Membership at vpmembership@sleepyhollowpreschool.org.

Processing: The Financial Aid Committee will make a determination within 30 days of receipt of the complete application. Completed applications must be received no later than the 15th of the month prior to which financial aid may begin. Please note financial aid is not retroactive and will not apply to amounts past due. To ensure applicants’ privacy, all information will be kept confidential. However, the Committee will keep records to account for the applications received, the determinations made, and the financial aid money awarded.

Parental Duties and Responsibilities: Like all members of the school, families receiving financial aid must fulfill their responsibilities to the school, including participation requirements (full co-oping and on-call sub rotation), committee work, training hours, maintenance hours, timely tuition payments and attendance at mandatory Membership meetings. Failure to maintain good standing in any area of membership responsibility will result in denial of a financial aid application and/or revocation of existing financial aid by the Financial Aid Committee.
